James 1:4 "But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing"

Patience brings us to perfection and wholeness. It is one of the most powerful weapons we have in our spiritual arsenal. When we let go of it, we replace it with impatience. This effectively benches us from the game and we stop "contending" for the faith (Jude 3).

By patience we possess and take government over our souls (Lk 21:19). Patience is the first attribute listed for being an apostle (2 Cor 12:12). It is the first attribute listed for love (1 Cor 13:4) and also ministry (2 Cor 6:4). It is the gateway to prosperity and wholeness.

It is an essential component to receive promises from God (Heb 6:12). It is one of the fruit of the Spirit that we've already received (Gal 5:22).

As with any gift it must be developed. Like a muscle, the more we exercise it the stronger it gets. If we leave off from using it, it atrophies.

It is the quality that keeps us steady like Him Who is the same yesterday, today and forever. And if we stumble and fall, we can be patient with ourselves to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and go at it again.

We have all things that pertain to godliness and life (2 Pet 1:3).
